Government is committed to nation’s development

Kwahu-Twenedurase (E/R), June 19, GNA – The Eastern Regional Minister and MP for Mpraeso, Dr Francis Osafo-Mensah was returned unopposed as NPP’s parliamentary candidate at the party’s constituency delegates’ conference at Kwahu-Twenedurase on Friday.

Addressing the conference, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Nana Adi Ankamah stated that the Government’s pragmatic socio-economic measures put in place over the past three-and-half years had enhanced the country’s development.

He described as false National Democratic Congress (NDC) claim that the numerous development projects going on throughout the country were being financed by the huge sums of money left over by their Government.

The Regional Chairman said a number of roads were being constructed and rehabilitated in all parts of the country including the Afram Plains to open up the country for investment and transportation of foodstuffs and raw materials to the marketing centres.

He urged the delegates to intensify their campaign to explain Government’s policies and programmes to the people for the Party to win more Parliamentary seat in Election 2004.

Dr Osafo-Mensah thanked the delegates and the Constituency Executives for the confidence reposed in him and called for total co-operation for the Party to win 80 per cent of the votes in the Constituency.

He said the government would go by the democratic process in the country’s Constitution to enhance the country’s development.

The Regional Minister urged them to intensify their house-to-house campaign and assist those who could not get their photographs taken during the photo-taking exercise to take them during the mopping up exercise to enable them to cast their votes during the elections. The Constituency Chairman of the Party, Mr Aninakwa Asante advised the delegates to avoid complacency and work hard for the Party to retain the parliamentary seat. 19 June 04
