Government is committed to education development-Aidoo

Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, has said the Government has undertaken 16 major projects at the University of Mines and Technology at Tarkwa at a total cost of GH?24,946,653.33.

Speaking at the dialogue session of the Regional Policy Fair at Essipon near Takoradi, he said the projects included a sporting facility, a five-storey administration complex and the reconstruction of internal access roads at the University.

Mr. Aidoo said classroom blocks had been constructed in high schools in the Region in addition to six dormitory blocks for selected Senior High Schools at a total cost of GH?32,032,380.16.

He said the projects were undertaken to improve facilities at the schools, to enable them to absorb extra students due to the change of the academic calendar from three to four years.

Mr. Aidoo said 14,000 student mattresses, 16,050 bunk beds, 50,000 mono desks, 1,000 kindergarten tables, 40,000 kindergarten chairs and 144 teachers’ tables and chairs estimated at GH?20,454,169.80 were distributed.

He said the Region is implementing six modules of the National Youth Employment in all the 17 district.
