Government has not fully taken over security agencies – Obiri Boahen

It is becoming somehow difficult for the current government to have total control over the security services due to it politicization under the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has revealed.

“The police, military, immigration and so on… almost everyone there was influenced before leaving office,” the private legal practitioner alleged on Nhyria FM in Kumasi.

“They weakened the state institutions and therefore it will take time to revive them and it is not easy for government. …in other jurisdictions the institutions are to be independent but they have weakened them” the outspoken General Secretary stated.

According to him, cohorts of NDC led by it General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia know very well they influenced the institutions but will hold unnecessary press conferences to attack government on security issues in the country.

“Remember the Kintampo Waterfalls accident where people died and in the midst of grief you hear the Koku Anyidohos and The Herald newspapers all edging NPP is happy…What kind of people are they,” he asked

The NDC recently held a press conference to accuse President Akufo-Addo and government for the death of Captain Maxwell Mahama lynched by residents of Denkyira-Boase in the Central Region.

Responding to the press conference addressed by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Nana Obiri Boahen described NDC leadership as “frustrated driven politicians who should not be entertained by Ghanaians”.

“Sometimes the behavior of Asiedu Nketia and Koku Anyidoho makes me thinking quit politics and focus my life a lawyer…Someone’s husband, son, father and brother is murdered and you chose to do politics with it. What kind of people are you.”

“I am telling Asiedu Nketia to desist from this archaic politics. He must speak wisdom to the people. He has been in opposition before. He should learn to speak wisdom,” he counseled.
