Cape Coast, July 31, GNA – The Central Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) is investigating reports that some drivers from second cycle institutions stole audio tapes from new vehicles they had gone to fetch from Accra for schools in the Region, authorities said on Thursday.
Nana Ato Arthur, Central Regional Minister, warned that drivers found culpable would be punished.
He gave the warning when he presented buses to 24 Senior High Schools in the Region on behalf of the government at Cape Coast. The beneficiary schools included Adisadel and Ghana National Colleges, Mfantsipim School, Wesley Girls, and Secondary Technical Schools at Efutu, Komenda and Mankessim. The other recipients were Senior High Schools at Winneba, Obrachire and Enyan-Denkyira, as well as Nsaba Presbyterian and Boa-Amposem Senior High Schools.
Nana Arthur urged heads of the beneficiary schools to ensure that the vehicles were well utilized and properly maintained. He bemoaned the situation where official vehicles were misused, thereby shortening their lifespan.
Mrs Cecilia Kwakye Coffie, a representative of the Regional Education Directorate, who received the buses, said the vehicles would greatly boost the running of the schools.
