Government Consoles Fire Victims

The Government has expressed its condolences to victims whose stalls and wares were affected by Monday evenings fire outbreak at sections of the Makola market.

A statement issued in Accra yesterday and signed by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheik I.C. Quaye said, “we urge all those affected to exercise restraint as investigations into the disaster and extent of damage are carried out.” It said the disaster caused the loss of millions of cedis in property to those affected.

The Government also congratulated personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Armed Forces, security agencies and all those who helped to bring the fire under control.

It would be recalled that on Monday evening there was a fire outbreak at Tema Station which resulted in the destruction of properties worth millions of cedis. There was no loss of life. The cause of the fire was still not known at the time of going to press.
