Government consoles DCE’s family

Bolgatanga, Nov. 18, GNA – Vice President Aliu Mahama on Wednesday consoled the family of the late District Chief Executive of the Lawra District Assembly, Mr Sylvanus Naamibe Ganfaa and assured them that a high-level Government delegation would be represented at his funeral.

Expressing his sympathy to the bereaved family when they called on him at the State Residency in Bolgatanga to announce the burial arrangements, Vice President Mahama described the late DCE as “a good man who dedicated his life to serve his people.”

“We really needed him here but as it is often said, Allah needs good people better than we do. Let us therefore, pray for his soul.” Mr Daniel Piime, head of family, accompanied by the Upper West Regional Minister, Mr Sahanun Mogtari, led the delegation, which included the widow.

Mr. Ganfaa, 58, died suddenly on October 16, this year. He was survived by a wife and two children.

According to the family head, he would be buried on November 27. Mr. Mogtari said Mr. Ganfaa, who was a teacher before his appointment in April 2001, initiated a lot of development projects in his area.

“He prioritised education and sponsored many children to pursue both basic and tertiary education,” he said.
