Government committed to quality health for all – DCE

Agona Mensakrom C/R, June 4, GNA – Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, District Chief Executive for Agona has stated that the government of new Patriotic Party is committed to providing quality health care for all Ghanaians.

He said the government had provided the District Assembly with 250 million cedis as seed money to start the preparation for the smooth take off of the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme.

Mr Agyabeng, who announced this at the inauguration of a 90 million cedi squatting Water Closet toilet for the chiefs and people of Mensakrom in the Agona District, noted that the assembly had done its part in order to get the scheme to work.

He asked the people in the area to support the scheme and also register their names with the DMHIS to enable them to pay their premiums, adding, “government alone cannot ensure the success of the scheme.”

Mr Agyabeng said the assembly would continue to provide more sanitary, health and educational facilities for the people in the district to improve their living condition, adding that Swedru, the district capital had the best sanitary facilities and plans were far advanced to extend the facilities to other towns.

The District Chief Executive assured the people of Mensakrom that an uncompleted three classroom-block, office and store, which had been abandoned, would be completed by the end of the year, saying that another one would also be constructed this year.

He noted that human resource were the best asserts of every nation and urged the parents to complement the efforts of teachers to ensure quality education for their children.

The DCE asked the people to take good care of the facility and warned that if they failed to maintain it the assembly would not have any option than to close it down.

Nana Obonkor Simpson Adontenhene of Mensakrom on behalf of the people thanked the assembly for the facility and assured the DCE that they would maintain it at all time.

Mr Abeiku Mbir, assemblyman for the area asked the people to support the government efforts to improve sanitation in the area and appealed to the district assembly to provide more social amenities for the people.
