Government awards contract on rehabilitation of Abrepo-Barekese road

Asamang-Ashanti, Oct. 09, GNA – Mr Benito Owusu-Bio, Member of Parliament for Atwima-Nwabiagya on Sunday said Government had awarded contract for the rehabilitation of the 26-kilometre Abrepo-Barekese road.

He said contracts had also been awarded to rehabilitate some feeder roads including Sepaase-Hiawu-Besease, Abuakwa-Maakro-Atwima-Agogo and Barekese-Fufuo.

Mr Owusu-Bio announced this at a meeting with residents of Asamang near Asuofua to discuss problems affecting development of the area. He has presented 500 bags of cement to the people of Asamang, Aninkroma, Esaase, Nkawie-Panin and Sepaase towards development projects as well as an award of 55 million cedis worth of scholarships to 19 brilliant but needy students from his share of the Assemblies Common Fund.

The MP also presented 10 packets of roofing sheets and a pledged for 50 million cedis towards the construction of a market and a three-classroom block at Asamang-Ashanti.

He appealed to the communities to initiate self-help projects for assistance from the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Assembly. Nana Osei Bonsu, Regent of Asamang said the community has moulded some cement blocks to construct a school block and adequate building materials would be procured to facilitate early completion of the project.
