Government asked to pay serious attention to art education

Winneba (C/R), Dec. 14, GNA – A lecturer at the Art Department of the University of Education, Winneba, Mr Smiles Ofori has called on the government to pay serious attention to Art Education to provide students the opportunity to promote their sense of creativity and facilitate their integral development.

He said the promotion of Art Education especially in the basic schools would serve as effective tool for learning. Mr Ofori made the call when he opened a week- long Art exhibition mounted by students of the Winneba District Council Junior Secondary School at Winneba.

The exhibition was made possible with the assistance of two American Art Educators, Miss Sarah Johnson and Miss Casey McFeely. He said Art was an effective tool for transmitting universal moral values and discipline.
