Good Tidings For Contractors

The Ministry of Roads and Transport is to settle all arrears owed contractors as a measure to ensure the speedy execution of road construction in the country and to enhance the financial standing of contractors.

The Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. K. Abbey Sam made the disclosure during a forum tagged ‘Road Development in a Sustainable Environment’ in Accra. The programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Roads and Transport in collaboration with the World Bank.

In attendance were various stakeholders in the road construction industry who sought good policies that would guide the sector in the task of road construction in the country.

Mr. Abbey said it is the aim of the ministry to provide the country with a good road and transport network, which according to him, would reduce the high incidence of road accidents in the country.

He also added that the integration of the road transportation network with other modes of transport is intended to bring about an efficient transportation.
