Gomoa West District Assembly constructs 48 school blocks

Mozano (C/R), Sept. 6, GNA – The Gomoa West District Assembly has constructed 48 school blocks under President John Evans Atta Mills administration to replace schools operating under trees.

Mr Francis Kojo Arthur, Member of Parliament for Gomoa West announced this at the closing of a 12-day celebration of the annual Peace Festival of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) at Mozano near Agona Swedru in the Central Region on Sunday.

He said dormitory blocks are also being constructed for students at Mozano Community Senior High School and the Dawuranpong Senior High/Technical School.

Mr Arthur said the unprecedented provision of schools infrastructure nationwide attested to the importance President Mills attached to education and advised parents to support his administration by enrolling their children in school.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah appealed to the church to resolve the leadership impasse to ensure that all those who had threatened to break away rescind their decision.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah said the MDCC was a legacy from a citizen of the area who founded the church therefore the assembly and the chiefs would not allow it to disintegrate.

He expressed concern about the church spending huge sums of money on litigation at the expense of development, saying a way must be found to stop it.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, Omanhen (Paramount chief) of Gomoa Ajumako pledged to resolve the impasse within three months.

To concretise the pledge, he announced the setting up of a committee under the chairmanship of Justice K.B. Ampiah a retired Supreme Court Judge to resolve the issue.
