Gomoa Fetteh polls to be re-run

Apam (c/r), Sept. 29, GNA — The district level election held at Gomoa Fetteh on Tuesday is to be re-run in three weeks because it produced no winner, as two of the four contestants tied with 430 votes apiece.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency at Apam on Thursday, Mr Stephen Bertino, Gomoa District Electoral Officer indicated that the re-run would be between the two candidates who tied.

Mr Samuel Kobina Sekyi and Mr Jewels Joseph Annan both tied at the top with 430 votes each. Another contestant Mr Kofi Essah obtained 194 votes, while Mr Ben Kwesi Ayetse, the immediate past assemblyman obtained 184 votes.

Mr Bertino commended the electorate for the peaceful manner in which the election was conducted and appealed to them to exhibit the same spirit during and after the re-run.
