Gomoa Education Directorate organises party for retired officers

Apam (C/R), Feb. 11, GNA – The Gomoa District Directorate of Education has held a send-off party at Apam for seven of its staff who have either retired or are on transfer.

Mr K.E. Hagan, Ms Comfort Ama Mills and Mr Kobena Kwakwa have retired while Mr J.K. Mensah, Mr Godfried Amedo, Miss Lydia Sey and Miss Rebecca Arhin are on transfer.

Mr J E S Baffoe, Assistant Director, commended the officers for their dedicated service and assured them that they would always be remembered for the contributions towards the advancement of education in the District.

He noted that a remarkable moment in one’s life was the day he or she retired and said the staff of the Directorate shared in their joy since not all workers retired honourably.

He advised the workers to emulate them by rendering dedicated service and refraining from habits, which could shorten their life. Mr Baffoe urged those on transfer to be good ambassadors of the district by exhibiting the good experiences they acquired at their new places of work.

Mr I.I. Baidoo, Acting District Director, called on the staff to put their shoulders to the wheel to overcome the problems facing the Directorate in delivering quality education to the people. He appealed to head-teachers to see themselves as front line supervisors and to exert their authority over schools.

Mr Baidoo gave the assurance to support Circuit Supervisors to work effectively and cautioned teachers against absenteeism, lateness, drinking during school hours and other social vices. Prizes were given to the officers.
