Gomoa District Assembly undertake 126 projects in four years

Apam (C/R), June 1, GNA- The Gomoa District Assembly, has executed 126 development projects during the past four years. They included construction of 68 new school blocks, rehabilitation of 13 dilapidated school buildings, 24 toilet facilities, sinking of 16 boreholes and rehabilitation of 15 roads.

Mr Gabriel Mfodjoh, District Planning Officer made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Apam. He was reacting to media reports accusing the acting District Chief Executive, Ms Joyce Aidoo for not living up to expectation during her tenure of office.

Mr Mfodjoh said the projects were executed with the District Assembly Common Fund, the HIPC, Social Investment, European Union Micro-Project, and Village Infrastructure Project Funds. “All these projects were done under the able leadership of Ms Aidoo,” the Planning Officer said.

He said the good performance of the assembly has attracted African Development Bank, to undertake some development projects to improve on the living conditions of the people.

He said the district was one of the few in the Central Region, which had been hooked on to the Internet.

“The DCE has done a good job and deserves commendation but not condemnation,” he said.
