Gomoa Chiefs cry over poor road networks

The Chiefs and people in the four communities of Gomoa West District of the Central Region have appealed to government to construct a road to link the Kyren Nkwanta/ Cape Coast main truck road to Gomoa Adaa.

According to the Chiefs, they have been neglected and cut off from the rest of the towns.

Nana Okotwere Bekoe IV, Apagyahene of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area and Chief of Gomoa Adaa made the appeal when he addressed the chiefs and people of Adaa to mark their annual Ahorbaakese festival at Adaa.

Nana Okotwere Bekoe expressed worrying about the several assurances given by the MP and District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa West on the construction of the road.

The Apagyahene stated that the poor road networks has affected the general wellbeing of the people in the communities of the Gomoa West.

He said the situation has led to the death of many people, especially pregnant women who had to be transport to health facilities at Apam, Winneba and Agona Swedru.

Nana Okotwere Bekoe stressed that it has also affected the farmers in transporting their produce to the market centers, adding that farmers must not lose their produce due to the bad nature of the road.

The Apagyahene called on the parents and guardians to invest in their children’s education to enable them become good leaders in future.

He expressed concern about the teenage pregnancy among school girls and cautioned men who indulged in such acts to stop before the law caught up with them.

Nana Okotwere Becoe said the chiefs and elders would not hesitate to hand over any person who will impregnate any school girl in the town to law enforcing agencies to deal with.

On the Ebola outbreak in some West Africa countries, the Apagyahene appealed to the people in the District to avoid eating bush meat in order not to attract the deadly disease.

He appealed to the government to step up the campaign and preparations against the Ebola disease, which has become a serious concern to the government, health authorities and all Ghanaians.
