Gold mining company builds Child Welfare Centre for Prestea

Tarkwa, Sept 15, GNA – Mother and Child Welfare Centre built by Bogoso Gold Limited (BGL) at a cost of 227.7 million cedis has been inaugurated at Prestea.

The structure has a waiting and service provision rooms and a store in addition to 25 plastic chairs and a writing table. Dr Teddy Avotri, the Wassa West District Director of Medical Services, commended BGL for putting up the structure and appealed to women to patronize the facility.

He said his outfit would provide weighing scale, free drugs and well-trained health worker to man the place. Madam Juliet McDonald, Community, Safety and Environmental Superintendent, BGL, said women and children would derive a lot of benefit from the facility.

Mr Ben Acquah, Assemblyman for Anfegya Electoral Area of Prestea where the facility was sited, expressed his gratitude to BGL for responding to the request he made. He said hitherto the women were attending post-natal care under a tree where they were exposed to hazards including wild ant bites.
