Gold Fields win Top Awards

Gold Fields Limited has received a top award from the Investment Analysts Society of Southern Africa (IASA) for “best reporting and communication”.

The Squirrel Award, given at a function in Johannesburg on Thursday night (14 August 2003), was in the resources, diamonds, precious metals and minerals category for the 2002 calendar year.

This was contained in a release signed by the Corporate Public Affairs and Social Developments Manager of Gold Fields Ghana group, Toni Aubynn, on Monday 25 August, 2003. According to the release, Gold Fields also received the Samrec/IASA award for best reporting of mineral resources and mineral reserves according to the Samrec code. Samrec is the South African Mineral Resources Committee.

Willie Jacobsz, Gold Fields’ senior vice president, Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs, said: “To be honoured by the watchdogs of our industry is particularly pleasing. It will, however, only encourage us at Gold Fields to continue to improve our communication to all stakeholders and other interested parties.”

Toni Aubynn disclosed that Gold Fields’ two operations in Ghana, the Abosso Goldfields, Damang and GGL Tarkwa are both ISO140001 certificated.
