Gold Fields Ghana and Shell are not organising any bonanza

Accra, Aug. 12, GNA – The management of Gold Fields Ghana, operators of Tarkwa and Damang gold mines and sponsors of the senior national team, the Black Stars, on Saturday dissociated itself from a purported bonanza being run by it and the management of Shell, saying “It is a hoax.”

“Gold Fields Ghana wishes to state emphatically that it is not presently running a bonanza or promotion of any such nature single handedly or in partnership with any other company or companies,” a statement issued by the company said.

The statement signed by Mr Toni Aubynn, Corporate Manager, Public Affairs and Social Department, said, “It has come to the company’s attention that text messages are being circulated claiming that Gold Fields and Shell are running a bonanza.”

“The text messages tell recipients that they have won an amount of money in the said promotion and requesting that the “winners” send their personal details to areeba number 024 649 2873.”

The statement advised the general public to be wary of such or similar messages, adding that the company would not take responsibility for losses and cost that might be incurred in relation to the said bonanza.
