Goat thief fined two million cedis

Asamankese, March 18, GNA – The Asamankese Circuit Court has slapped a fine of two million cedis on Kofi Agama for stealing a goat valued at 300,000 cedis.

Agama, who pleaded guilty, would be jailed for 12 months in default.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Osei Owusu, said the complainant William Tengey, discovered on March 8, this year that his goat has been stolen.

He said Mr Tengey saw the goat in the possession of a boy who mentioned one Alhassan Braimah as the owner.

Chief Inspector Owusu said when Braimah was confronted he said he bought the goat for 130,000 cedis from Agama.

When the presiding Judge, Mr Kofi Akrowiah, asked the accused what time of the day he stole the goat, he said it was 1900 hours. “And you coveted it” the Judge asked amidst laughter. 18 March 05
