Goaso shooting incident sparks fear in farmers

Goaso (B/A), May 22, GNA – Fear has gripped farmers at Asuadai, Nyamebekyere, Ayomso, Kyenkyehenekrom and some parts of Mim in the Asunafo North Municipality following a shooting incident at Goaso. Samuel Boakye Ansah, 47-year-old farmer shot and killed his mother in-law, wounded his wife and brother at Goaso three weeks ago and bolted with the gun and a number of ammunition in possession. Farmers in the area told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, fear has gripped them and therefore could not go to their farms because the murderer had still not been apprehended by the police. They complained that their farm produce were being affected and appealed to the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command to as a matter of urgency deployed security personnel arrest the culprit. When contacted, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Daniel Afuugu Ayamdago, Goaso District Police Commander confirmed the incident and said his outfit was doing it best to arrest Ansah. He appealed to the public not to hesitate to provide information about Ansah’s hideout to enable the police to apprehend him. Meanwhile, the right hand of Ansah’s brother had been amputated because of the gun shot wound whilst the wife was responding to treatment at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani.
