GNPC Donates To Jomoro District

Kengen (W/R), Aug 29, – The managenent of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) yesterday presented 40 boxes of pre- school teaching aids to public day care centres in the Jomoro District. Mr Emmanuel Quaye-Foli, petroleum engineer of the GNPC on behalf of his organisation, presented the items to the Jomoro District Chief Executive, Mr Thomas E. Kwesi. He said the GNPC was moved by the falling standard of education in the district to contribute its quota to arrest the situation. He said the GNPC is concentrating on the nurseries in order to give the children a good foundation in education. Mr Quaye-Foli hoped school authorities would take good care of the teaching materials. Receiving the items, Mr Kwesi said there are more children of school going-age staying at home than those attending school. He, therefore, appealed to parents to send their children to school instead of engaging them in their coconut business. Mr Kwesi gave the assurance that the Jomoro District Assembly would continue to provide some of the needs of schools in the district. The District Chief Executive later handed over the items to Mr I.R. Erzuah, district director of education for distribution to day care centres. Nana Nwolley, Tufuhene of Kengen, on behalf of Awulae Annor Adjaye, Omanhene of Western Nzema Traditional area thanked the GNPC for the gifts.
