GNAT calls for more motivation for teachers

The fourth Biennial Delegates Conference of the Akwatia District of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has ended at Boadua on Friday.

In a resolution, the association appealed to the Government to motivate teachers to give off their best rather than paying lip service to the improvement of their welfare.

The teachers also asked the government to provide mortgage facility for them as a way of motivation.

The resolution also appealed to government to provide the needed infrastructure in public schools in line with the “Better Ghana Agenda”.

An 11- member executive to steer the local GNAT for the next two years was elected into office.

Mr Frank Twum, Secretary of the association, in presenting a report for the year 2011-2012, said the association would encourage more teachers to take advantage of the distance learning programme to upgrade themselves.
