Gloria Akuffo to meet striking State Attorneys today

Leaders of the striking state attorneys have been invited by the Attorney General-designate Gloria Akuffo in an attempt to get them back to work.

The attorneys have been on strike for over three months demanding better working conditions. The strike has compelled judges to adjourn some cases, since the state lawyers are not available to represent the state.

National President of the Association of State Attorneys, Francisca Tete-Mensah, told Starr News they have an oral assurance from government to resolve their issues.

“We have already seen the President and they asked for a firm written commitment that they will ensure the enforcement of the awards, and the enforcement of the awards will bring an answer to our issue of pension and condition of service…we already have an oral assurance from the president and so Madam Gloria wants to listen to us and see how best to resolve our issue”.
