Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – All members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) have up to 1700 hours on Monday to pay up their the arrears of their dues or lose their vote in Thursday’s election of national executives.
A statement issued on Sunday by the Mr Mawusi Afele, GJA Elections Officer, said no names of members who pay after the deadline would be accepted.
The statement asked all GJA members to check the notice boards of their various media houses or the Ghana Press Centre for the provisional list of paid-up members that would be used as the voters’ register for the election.
All complaints about the register should be lodged with the Elections Officer who will forward them to the GJA Secretariat by 1700 hours on Monday.
The statement said all eligible voters would be required to produce an identity card before they vote. The identity card can either be the GJA card or that of their work place.
The Elections Officer asked all campaign managers of the contestants to meet him at the Press Centre at 1600 hours on Tuesday to discuss all issues relating to the election. 17 Aug. 03
