The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is set to elect new national and regional executives today, June 30, 3035, at designated polling centres nationwide.
In all, the Elections Committee has approved 62 aspirants to contest various positions.
Out of the number, 13 including current executives, are vying for national positions, while 49 others are contesting regional roles, following a thorough vetting process and a review of petitions.
The sitting President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, is seeking re-election against media trainer and consultant Charles Yao Mawusi.
In addition, the current Public Relations Officer (PRO), Rebecca Ekpe, is in a stiff competition for the Vice President position with Mary Tawiah Mensah, the Foreign Editor of the Daily Graphic and a former GJA PRO.
The current Organising Secretary, Dominic Hlordzi, is contesting for the General Secretary position against Akwasi Agyeman, an editor with Adom FM, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group.
The former Eastern Regional Chairman, Maxwell Kudekor, is vying for the Organising Secretary role against Suleiman Mustapha, Acting Editor of Graphic Business.
For the Treasurer role, Bertha Badu-Agyei of the Ghana News Agency(GNA) faces fierce competition from Theodora Amedetor from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
In the Ashanti Region, environmental journalist and News Editor with the Multimedia Group, Kofi Adu Domfeh, is competing against Georgina Ama Ankomah for the Chairperson position, while Kingsley Nana Buadu and David Yarboi-Tetteh are contesting the same post in the Central Region.
