Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive has appealed to Ghanaians to give President John Dramani Mahama the space to perform the onerous task he owes Ghanaians.
The President owes a duty of improving the living conditions of the people.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam, Mr Aidoo-Mensah urged Ghanaians to exercise patience and allow the President time to fix the challenges confronting the nation.
The DCE appealed to the opposition parties, especially members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to allow President Mahama time to settle and execute his plans.
He said ever since the NPP decided not to accept the result of the 2012 presidential elections, their members and supporters had embarked on a number of activities including demonstrations to make the nation ungovernable.
“They have been piling pressure on the President as if he is a magician who can turn things round in a few minutes,” Mr Aidoo-Mensah said.
He said the President had been in office for less than three months and had not even completed forming his government, adding that Parliament had just approved his first budget statement and even the ministries and departments have not received their allocation of funds to enable them start with serious work.
The DCE said the current challenges facing the nation, such as power outages and water rationing had been there before President Mahama came to power; saying that he had full confidence in the ability of the President to fix them.
“What is needed is for Ghanaians to give him time,” he concluded.
