Give Chemical Sellers Representation On Pharmacy Council

Accra, (Greater Accra) 9 Dec., Mr.. S.O. Darko, Member of Parliament for Ga North, has said chemical sellers must be represented on the Pharmacy Council because they play a significant role in the administration of drugs. Mr.. Darko, who was speaking at the inauguration of the Taifa Zone of the Ghana National Chemical sellers association at the weekend, said the role of chemical sellers must not be downplayed because their services are important. The Pharmacy Council has eight Pharmacists and a lawyer as members. Mr.. Darko urged the council to relax the law on classification of drugs and urgrade the qualification of chemical sellers to enable them to sell basic drugs with clear instructions. “The council should consider organising courses for chemical sellers to keep them abreast with changes and enhance their capacities.” The MP advised chemical sellers to give correct instructions to patients and be cautious about expiry dates.
