GIS calls for returns of non-Ghanaian employees

Accra, Dec. 31, GNA – The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) on Thursday reminded employers of non-Ghanaian citizens to submit their annual returns on the status of their employees by the January 14, 2010.

A statement from GIS said the returns should be submitted to the nearest Immigration Office, and that the information provided must include the full name of employee; nationality; position held; date of employment; number of years resident in Ghana and date of expiry of Resident Permit. Other information required are whether the employee is on quota or work permit; business address and telephone number as well as physical location/address of the company/organization. “Employers are to note that failure to comply with this directive would attract sanctions in accordance with the Immigration Laws of Ghana,” the statement said.

The GIS asked those affected to contact the Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Immigration Service (Room 6) within the Ministry of Interior, or call (021) 685000.
