Girlfriends occupying government bungalows to be ejected – Minister

The Minister for Works and Housing Samuel Atta Akyea has revealed that government bungalows meant for public sectors workers have been given to those who do not deserve it.

He said such apartments have been allocated to girlfriends of some government officials.

The Hon. Member for Abuakwa South who condemned the practice said the government will soon eject such occupants.

“Some of them could be the girlfriends of some people. You will be shocked to hear the kind of funny stuff going on in governmental circles, which is not good for the country,” He told Accra based Joy FM.

“We cannot have a situation where you will take the government for granted so we will certainly evict them.” He added.

Mr. Atta-Akyea further stated that government officials sometimes approach him to appeal to him to release some government apartments for their relatives.

‘’some public officials come to tell me, this is my nephew, let him leave there for free.”

“Meanwhile doctors and nurses are marking time looking for accommodation. The audit will bring all these to bear and those there will be surcharged, he lamented.
