Girl seduced me to defile her – Trader

Kumasi, August 6, GNA – A 25-year-old trader standing trial at a Kumasi Circuit Court for defiling a 12-year-old girl has told the Circuit Court that he was seduced by the victim.

Akwasi Fosu pleaded guilty, but said the girl demanded that he had sex with her after he had given her some chocolate. The Court presided over by Mr Adjei Frimpong, however, rejected this explanation and sentenced him to 15 years in jail.

The facts of the case as presented by Police Chief Inspector Mary Nana Adwoa Affanyi were that the victim is an iced-water seller living with her aunt at Adoato suburb of Kumasi.

On July 30, this year, at about 1500 hours, the girl was going about her routine water business at the Abrepo Junction where she met Fosu also selling Chocolate.

He bought a sachet of water from the victim but refused to pay. Police Chief Inspector Frimpong said this generated into a quarrel between the two, with the girl threatening to report him to the police if he failed to pay for the water. Fosu, she said, struggled with the victim and dragged her to a nearby bush behind the Bantama Methodist School, where he forcibly had sex with her. A report was made to the police by a witness leading to the suspect’s arrest.
