Girl petitions CHRAJ against her father for child neglect

Atebubu (B/A), Feb. 12, GNA- Martha Owusuaa, a 20-year-old Primary four girl of the Atebubu Seventh-day Adventist school has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) against child neglect by her father.

The father, Kofi Ataala, an employee of the Atebubu District Assembly, is said to have refused to provide his daughter with the basic needs since her birth.

Mr Kwadwo Vasco Nyamekye, Director of the Commission told Ghana News Agency that the girl’s mother, who had taken care of her since birth had become physically incapacitated and could no longer take care of her.

He said the Commission invited Ataala but he failed to turn up. Meanwhile, the Commission has sent another invitation to the District Coordinating Director for Atebubu, Mr. N. M. Sani to release Ataala to appear before it.
