A 9 –year- old girl school girl, Gifty Baidoo, met her untimely death on Wednesday night after allegedly slipping into a trench at Kasoa in the Central Region.
The trench had allegedly been abandoned by some construction workers in the area.
Speaking to Atinka News, the Kasoa Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Samuel Narh Musah disclosed that the incident occurred around 9 PM on Wednesday at Congo Villa, a suburb of Kasoa.
He noted that the body had been sent to the Winneba Government Hospital morgue for autopsy to determine whether the girl got drowned or was dumped into the abandoned pit by criminals.
DSP Narh Musah said the unfortunate incident came to light when the mother of deceased started looking for her daughter who was not at home as at 8 PM.
She then suspected that Gifty might have fallen into the pit; her worst fears were confirmed when she found her daughter’s lifeless body in the pit.
The Kasoa Divisional Police are investigating the matter.
