Girl, 4, drowns in borehole

Tragedy hit the residents of Nketsiakrom, near Kojokrom in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis over the weekend when a four-year-old girl drowned in a borehole.

According to the Police, the girl was said to have followed her 23-year-old mother to fetch water from the borehole.

However, the mother left the girl near the borehole to buy some biscuit for her because she was crying for food.

On her return, the mother could not find her daughter and searched the entire vicinity to no avail.

The next day, however, some residents found the body in the borehole and reported the incident to the Police.

The corpse has since been deposited in the morgue while Police investigations continue.

Police confirmed the incident to the GNA on Monday.
