GIMPA, DANIDA build capacity of administrators

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)in collaboration with the Danish Development Agency (DANIDA) has started a two-week capacity-building workshop for private and public officials on local governance, women in management and financial administration.

The workshop which had attracted participants from Ghana, Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya was to expose participants from the region to the principles of governance and leadership and accountability at the local government level to make them more effective.

It was also to create the platform for the participants to learn from other countries’ experiences in decentralisation and local governance so that best practices could be learnt and replicated in their home countries.

Speaking at a short opening ceremony organised on Monday in Accra, Professor Franklyn Manu, Rector of GIMPA, underscored the importance of the modules for the two-week programme and urged the participants to contribute meaningfully to the discussions.
