GIL establishes School of Bilingual Secretary ship

Kumasi, July 8, GNA – The Kumasi branch of the Ghana Institute of Languages (GIL) would this year establish a School of Bilingual Secretary-ship in English and French. Mr. Christopher K. Angkosaala, Acting Director of the Institute who announced this, indicated that the school had the objective of giving opportunities to the youth, especially tertiary Students on the job market.

Mr. Angkosaala made this known in a speech read on his behalf at the third graduation ceremony of the Kumasi branch of GIL on Tuesday. In all, 450 students graduated with certificates in Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Russian and German. The Acting Director said the world had become a global village and the only way the youth would make an impact in this era of globalization was to embrace vibrant educational courses such as Languages to benefit their career development.

Mr. Angkosaala said the GIL was unique in the sense that it was the only Institute in the Sub-Saharan Africa where one could register to learn a language at the beginner level and continue up to the Tertiary level for the award of Diploma and Degree Certificates. Mr. Francis Ofinibo, Dean of Students of the Accra branch of GIL appealed to the foreign students to strive and partake in extra curricular activities of the school to enhance their integration into the Ghanaian culture.

The Head of the Kumasi branch of GIL, Mr. Andrew Dery said the GIL had survived in spite of several difficulties, but had been able to turn out communicators and language operators, who were working in all spheres of human endeavours both in Ghana and abroad. He challenged the grandaunts to put into practice what they had learnt to help them become conversant with their course of studies.
