GHS warns public on cholera

The Ghana Health Service on Thursday asked the general public to take preventive measures against cholera which might occur in the Greater Accra Region with the onset of the rainy season.

A statement issued in Accra by Dr K. O. Adadey, Regional Director of Health Services, said the disease was endemic in the Region and members of the public should keep their environments clean and cover food and water to protect them from flies and dust. All fresh vegetables should be washed thoroughly before eating.

They should also wash their hands before preparing and eating food a well as after visiting the toilet. Eat food while hot or warm; use proper toilet facilities and avoid indiscriminate defecation.
