Police in the Ashanti region are soliciting public support to be able to arrest the six thugs who stormed Kumasi-based Fox FM on the alleged orders of Ashanti Regional communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Kyei and attacked Baah Acheamfour.
In a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Yusif Tanko, one of the six machomen known as Ahmed residing at Aboabo, a suburb of the Kumasi metropolis has been identified and said to be on the run.
The outspoken communicator was attacked at the station while contributing to the late afternoon political show of the station hosted by one Kwaku Kyeremanteng Nkansah.
The ‘machomen’ numbering about 5 without provocation on the instructions of someone only identified as Akwesi Kyei, broke into the studios despite fierce resistance by the security of the station and subjected the panelists and host to the severe beatings resulting in injuries.
Police personnel from Zongo police station were immediately called to the scene to restore calm after which injured Baah Acheamfour was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for medical attention.
