GHATCA members urged to uphold ethics

Accra, Jan. 8 GNA – Members of the Ghana Air Traffic Controllers Association (GHATCA)have been urged to uphold their ethics at all times, no matter the cost.

“In all you do ensure that your ethical values are ensured no matter the cost. Our clarion call will be that safety is not compromised by any means.”

Air Vice-Marshall J. O. Boateng, Chief of Air Staff, Ghana Armed Forces, said this at an end of year get together which was held for members of the Association in Accra.

He said GHATCA shared the vital responsibility towards ensuring safety and security in the aviation sector. “You have played your role over the years in maintaining safety and I believe you would even improve upon it this year as well as those to follow.”

Air Vice-Marshall Boateng noted that the air safety record of the country bore testimony to the high level of professionalism exhibited by the Air Traffic Controllers.

He expressed the hope that individuals with new ideas would bring them to bear, to ensure progress within the Aviation industry in the country.

The Air Force Commander noted that with such exchange of ideas within an atmosphere of unity and easy collaboration “we could face up to any challenge of the coming year.”

Mr Simon Allotey, Deputy Director General in charge of Technical, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, said in order to ensure maximum results, one did not only have to work with immediate gains in mind. He noted that it was important in every situation to endeavour to leave a mark that others would live up to. “Let us in 2007 work as though we were working for generations to come”; he said. Mr Foster Danso, GHATCA President, commended the GHATCA members for a successful year which was devoid of unpleasant incidents. He urged them to continue with that kind of attitude in the coming year in order to ensure even better success in the future.
