Gharteys Donate Computers to Vocational Institute

Winneba (C/R), Nov.28, GNA-The Reverend and Mrs Ebenezer Ghartey, both founders and leaders of Gyatekuma Foundation a Non Government Organization (NGO), at the weekend donated computers and accessories to the management of Winneba-based S. H. Emissah Memorial Vocational Training Institute at a ceremony at Winneba. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency later, Mrs Ghartey said it was the objective of the organization to source educational, medical and other equipment from friendly organizations and well-wishers outside Ghana from time-to-time for distribution to needy training institutions and Government hospitals and clinics in the country.

Mrs Ghartey said through that, the organization would make positive contribution to the national reconstruction efforts since Government alone cannot single-handedly cope with the numerous problems facing the nation.

She said since the organization started operation in the country a few years ago, it had mobilized and distributed thousands of drugs and other medical equipment worth hundreds of millions of cedis to a number of health institutions and schools in the country free of charge. The Managing Director of S. H. Emissah Memorial Vocational Training Institute, Madam A. Emissah thanked the donors for the gesture and appealed to other organizations and well-wishers of the institute to assist the institute accomplish its computerization programmes. She said the rationale behind the establishment of the institute was to supplement Government move to make the citizenry, especially the jobless females self-reliant through the acquisition of vocational knowledge and skills that would empower them economically.
