GhanaWeb donates to Psychiatric Hospital

GhanaWeb, organisers of the ongoing maiden Healthcare Quality Forum in Accra on Wednesday donated packs of food to patients at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

The event and donation are in line with GhanaWeb’s corporate social responsibility.

Receiving the food and beverages on behalf of the patients, Administrator of the Hospital, Peter Agyemang Gyewu, expressed gratitude to the staff and management of GhanaWeb, for the kind gesture and urged other organisations to emulate.

There are about 500 mentally challenged inmates who are currently seeking medical care at the facility, officials revealed.

On his part, the Medical Director at the Mental Health Authority, Dr Akwasi Osei, stressed the need for corporate organisations to constantly extend alms to the patients.

“These patients need help from intuitions and people who are doing well in the society to help their situation.

“Government, we all know, is doing its best, but contributions from corporate Ghana could also be of immense help to the patients,” he said.

The GhanaWeb Quality Health Forum was convened by Dr Joseph Boateng and it is on the theme: “Improving the Quality of Healthcare Delivery and Patient Safety in Ghana”.

The two-day event is expected to end on Thursday evening.
