Ghana’s UN peacekeeping account to be audited

The Ministry of Defence has commissioned Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), an international auditing firm to audit the accounts of Ghana’s peacekeeping operations within the UN system.

Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, the Minister who announced this at a meeting with military chiefs on Thursday said the exercise is one in a series to inject confidence and transparency into the operation of UN peacekeeping funds.

A statement issued in Accra said the minister would use the report of the audit as a guide to determine the degree of adjustment of Ghanaian soldiers on UN duty.

He assured the PWC of the co-operation of relevant bodies and individuals in the exercise.
