Ghana’s Paul Ayongo Joins Ararat-Armenia

Ghanaian striker Paul Ayongo has signed for Armenian vice-champions Ararat-Armenia, as the club gears up for its UEFA Europa Conference League campaign in the 2025/26 season.

The 28-year-old becomes the club’s second summer signing and arrives from Portuguese side GD Chaves, where he made 25 appearances last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Ayongo, known for his work rate and ability to lead the line, brings valuable experience to the Armenian outfit as they prepare for the second qualifying round of Europe’s third-tier competition.

Born in Ghana, Ayongo has spent the majority of his professional career in Portugal, including spells in the second division with Académico de Viseu and Mafra. He has also featured briefly in the A-League in Australia and in Luxembourg’s top flight, building a reputation as a reliable and versatile forward.

Ararat-Armenia, who narrowly missed out on the Armenian Premier League title last season, are strengthening their squad with the aim of making a mark in Europe. The club hopes Ayongo’s international experience will prove vital on the continental stage.

The draw for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League is set to take place later this month, with Ararat-Armenia awaiting their opponents.
