Ghana’s Major Telcos to Increase Bundle Offers from July 1

Ghanaians will soon enjoy more value for their money on mobile data as the government has announced a significant boost in data bundle offers from the country’s major telecom operators, MTN, Telecel, and AT starting Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

The announcement was made at a press conference in Accra by the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George. He said the move is part of ongoing efforts to improve digital access and affordability across the country.

“Starting July 1, AT-Tigo Ghana will offer a 10% increase on all existing data bundles,” Mr George revealed. “For example, the GHC400 bundle that currently gives users 195 gigabytes of data will now offer 236 gigabytes.”

Telecel Ghana is also implementing similar adjustments. “Their GHC400 package, which currently offers 90 gigabytes, will now provide a remarkable 250 gigabytes,” the minister added.

Meanwhile, MTN Ghana is going a step further with a 15% increase in all data bundles. Of particular note is the reinstatement of its GHC399 bundle, which had been adjusted down in recent months. “We’re bringing back the popular GHC399 package that now offers 214 gigabytes of data, up from the recently reduced 92.88 gigabytes,” Mr George said.

The Ministry says the decision was reached in collaboration with the telecom operators and is aimed at bridging the digital divide, especially in underserved regions.

Analysts say the increase in data volume could significantly impact internet affordability and accessibility, particularly for students, small businesses, and remote workers who rely heavily on mobile data services.

This development has been widely welcomed by consumers and digital rights advocates, who have long called for more competitive data pricing in the country.

The government says it will continue to engage stakeholders in the digital space to ensure that affordability goes hand in hand with quality of service.
