H.E. Mr. Isaac Osei, Ghana?s envoy to the UK was among 80 Ghanaians and community associations who were honoured at the 2004 Leadership Recognition event to mark the 15th anniversary of the Reconciliation International held in London.
Mr. Kwabena Baah-Duodu received a certificate in recognition of leadership and diplomatic skills.
The certificate was presented by Mrs. Nickey Gavron, Deputy Mayor of London at the event organised by the Reconciliation International, a spiritual and educational charity.
Present at the awards ceremony were Mr. Kwabena Baah-Duodu, Deputy High Commissioner of Ghana to the UK, Hon. David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, Mrs. Sheila Peacock, Mayor of Haringey, Chief Superintendent, Stephen Bloomfield, Police Borough Commander for Haringey and representatives of leading Ghanaian community groups.
Deputy Mayor Gavron received the community leadership award, while special awards were given to Chief Superintendent Bloomfield and Hon. Lammy both received the community support certificates, Councillors George Meehain and Pahman Khon – for good leadership in community support.
Prominent Ghanaians and associations honoured included Mr. and Rev. MRs. Kwateng, Mr. and Mrs. Oppong for education and social care, Kumasi Asafo Union, Amaniapong Kroye Kuo, Ejisu Kroye Kuo, Wiamoase Kuo – for Ghana development projects; Nana Kusi Appiah ? health and social care; Alhaji Abass Mensah ? culture; Mr. Bernard Ampah of OBE Television and Nana Otuo Acheampong of Ghana Review International Magazine.
Highlight of the occasion was the ordination of Mr. Emmanuel Ashiboye Mensah by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Kwaku Frimpong-Manson.
Officiating at the ordination were Rt. Rev. Simon Iheancecho, Rt. Rev. Prince Hapel, Rt. Rev. Henry Kontor with the support of Rev. Doctors Nana Afaidze-Hayford, Raptur Maranatha International, Rev. D Doye Agame, Strong Tower Ministry, Manchester and Rev (Ms) Charlotte Kwateng of the Grace Ministry, North London.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Baah-Duodu thanked the Rt. Rev. Bishop Frimpong-Manson and the Reconciliation International for the good work they were doing not only for Ghanaians in the UK but those of other nationalities.
He expressed the Mission?s appreciation to the untiring efforts of all the dedicated men and women of Broadwater Farms community area which had become a preferred destination for all.
