Ghana’s Minister of Education and football club Karela United owner, Haruna Iddrisub has taken a major step to promote youth football development by securing trial opportunities with AC Milan for five promising Ghanaian players.
The initiative, made possible through Mr. Iddrisu’s personal efforts and international connections, offers the young talents a rare chance to showcase their skills at one of Europe’s most storied football clubs.
Mr. Iddrisu, who also owns Karela United, has long been an advocate for using sports as a tool for youth empowerment and social mobility.
Sources close to the minister say the move is part of a broader plan to build pathways for Ghanaian footballers to access global platforms, adding that the trials could lead to professional contracts or academy placements if the players impress.
Football observers have praised the gesture, describing it as a bold and timely intervention in a country where many young footballers struggle for exposure beyond local leagues.
The trials with AC Milan also reflect growing international interest in Ghana’s football potential, a country that has produced global stars like Abedi Pele, Michael Essien, and Thomas Partey.
