Ghana’s democracy is exemplary – Francois Hollande

French President Francois Hollande has commended the people of Ghana for successfully voting to choose a leader, describing Ghana as an exemplary democratic country.

A brief letter signed by President Hollande also congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his victory, while assuring president Mahama of continuous support from the French government to deepen democracy in Ghana.

The President of the Republic Paris, 13th December, 2012.

Mr. President,

As I learn that the Electoral Commission announced your victory at the presidential election, it is a great pleasure for me to address to you my deepest congratulations.

For the French people, Ghana represents an exemplary democratic country. I am convinced that, led by you, your country will go on reinforcing the rule of law and dialogue between all Ghanaians as well as maintaining a high level of development.

I wish to go further in the partnership between France and Ghana and I would be pleased to welcome you in Paris.

Please accept, Mr. President, the assurances of my highest consideration.
