Ghanaian defender Bernard Kyere has signed a two-year contract with German Regionalliga Nord side FC Phönix Lübeck, the club announced. The 29-year-old centre-back joins the Eagles on a free transfer following his departure from Luxembourg top-flight side Victoria Rosport at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Kyere, who previously starred for FC Kaiserslautern U17, brings a wealth of experience, having made 88 appearances in Germany’s third division earlier in his career. Last season, he was a key figure for Victoria Rosport, featuring in 31 matches across all competitions.
In an official statement, the club expressed confidence in Kyere’s ability to strengthen their defense: “The FC Phönix Lübeck is signing the experienced and 88-time third league player Bernard Kyere until 2027. The 29-year-old centre-back will stabilize the Eagles’ defense.”
Sporting director Frank Salomon lauded the defender’s qualities, saying, “He’s strong in the air and confident in tackling, and he also has good pace. With his calmness, leadership skills, and experience, ‘Bernie’ will ensure that we can continue to rely on a solid defense.”
Kyere’s move is seen as a significant boost for FC Phönix Lübeck as they aim for a strong campaign in the German fourth division. With his impressive track record and eligibility for Ghana’s national team, Kyere’s journey continues to attract attention, both domestically and abroad.
