It is an undeniable fact that ex-Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, is a bosom friend of President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana.
Throughout their political careers, the two have openly supported each other and could be described as ‘political twins’ who strengthened the relationship between Ghana and Nigeria.
As it stands now, one has fallen in Nigeria and the other is yet to know his fate come 2016. But even before Ghanaians cast their vote, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, claims President Mahama’s defeat is imminent.
Speaking to Peacefmonline.com on Wednesday, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, stated that just as it happened in Nigeria on Tuesday, “electorates in Ghana will forcefully marry Mahama and Goodluck in opposition.”
The main opposition candidate in Nigeria’s national elections, Muhammadu Buhari won Nigeria’s presidential election by 2.57 million votes, according to official results announced on Wednesday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission said the 72-year-old, from the All Progressives Congress (APC), won 15,424,921 votes or 53.95 percent of the 28,587,564 total valid votes cast.
His nearest rival, President Goodluck Jonathan, 57, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won 12,853,162 (44.96 percent) at the election, which was held on Saturday and Sunday.
