Ghanaians urged to vote for NDC in 2000

Nsawam (E/R), Sept. 17, GNA – A former Deputy National Organiser of the erstwhile People’s Convention Party (PCP) has asked Ghanaians to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2000 to sustain the peace and stability of the nation.

Mr Bernard Hanson made the call when he addressed a meeting of Nkrumaist Youth at Nsawam on Wednesday. He warned that if Ghanaians make a mistake in casting their vote, they would have to wait for another four years before they can correct that mistake.

Mr Hanson, who was also the Great Alliance parliamentary candidate for Akwapim South in the 1996 general election, therefore, asked Ghanaians to vote for the NDC to enable it to continue with its development projects.

He advised all Nkrumaists to re-organise themselves into a formidable party capable of winning political power in next year’s elections.

Mr Lord de-Graft Aikins, an opinion leader who chaired the meeting, appealed to leaders of the various political parties to tolerate divergent views and be committed to the ideals of democratic governance.

Chiefs must not to hide behind the constitutional provision that bars them from engaging in active politics and stay aloof but express their views on national issues.

He called on the government to re-construct feeder roads in the Akwapim South District to ensure that foodstuffs reach the urban centres in good time.
