Koforidua, April 8, GNA – The Anglican Bishop of the Koforidua Dioceses, Rt. Rev. Francis Benjamin Quashie has called on Ghanaians to trust each other to create the situation where the citizenry would accept that, at least, “there are people who work for the good of society.”
He observed that, there had been too much mistrust in the society that, “any effort put in by anybody is first observed with an eye of suspicion and the effort is interpreted as an attempt to take advantage of society.” The observation was contained in an Easter message the bishop released at Koforidua on Thursday.
Rt. Rev. Quashie noted that the climate of suspicion had given rise to “uncritical criticisms, verbal attacks and unnecessary politicisation of everything, however noble-minded.”
He, therefore, called on all Ghanaians to cultivate the virtue of trusting one another and to speak the truth to help reduce the political tension in the society.
Bishop Quashie said the death and resurrection of Christ in Easter “is the demonstration that the truth will always triumph over falsehood” and therefore, urged all Ghanaians not only to pray for peace but also to work for it by what they say and do to each other to help do away with tension in the society.
